Fam fam....(June 30, 2014...whew! Caught up!)

Hello, family! How's it going? I hope it's just so lovely in the 90 degree weather. All of you can just suck it up, okay? I haven't felt anything below 104 in six weeks.

So, back to the awkward contacts...we had two great ones yesterday. The first one all started because....drum roll, please...MY TIRE POPPED. It finally happened to me. We had just finished facebook, and jumped on our bikes to leave, and I notice that my front wheel is grinding and dragging, and I find a little tiny thorn wedged into it! (Spiritual parallel: even a little thorn can keep you from moving forward.) (#missionaryupinhere #spiritualparallelsforall)

Anyway, we called Elder Brown to know what to do, he told us to call some elders in the area for help, they show up and it turns out they don't actually have the tools required, then we sit around for a really long time waiting for the other Hermanas to bring me a bike that I can use. (While I am very grateful for the help, I will admit that it was a frustrating process. IT IS SO LAME SITTING IN A CHURCH FOR THREE HOURS NOT DOING ANYTHING...)

Anyway, I got this other bike for the day, but it's impossible to get on to, and I was struggling for a bit in front of this one house, and these two people were audibly laughing at us. So we decided to contact them. :) Well, it was super weird. He hugged us each, even when we said we weren't allowed to, then was just talk talk talking, we decided to just leave him with a card, and he asked us if we have videos on Mormon.org. We said no, and he was like, "darn, cause you two are cute......" then he points at my companion and says, "especially you," and then he turns to me and goes, "sorry. no offense."

...that's okay, I did my makeup this morning with a sledgehammer, so I get it.

(You know the talk "Lock Your Heart"? Well, every day it gets easier and easier.)

Anyway, another weird contact...last night we went up to a door and knocked, and a little boy opened it. We asked if we could talk to his parents, and he said yes...then he just went back to his kitchen table and started drawing. So here we are, standing in front of this open doorway, and anyone could just walk by and be like, "what the heck are you doing here" so we say to the little boy, "...umm...could you get your mom or dad...?" Then he gives us this big old inconvenienced look and goes to get someone. Well then two seconds later this guy walks out of another door in nothing but his underwear and long story short we are never contacting another house again.

Just kidding we totally will. #onlywhennecessary

We went bowling as a zone last week! And I got so many strikes! (A strike is when you throw it in the gutter, right?) (Just kidding I really did get a lot of strikes. I've been excited to brag about that for an entire week. Glad I got it off my chest.)

This week was a little rough with investigators...we still didn't have anyone in church, and no one really progressed and finding was pretty hard, too...but I also grew a lot personally. I studied a lot more about the Atonement. I love it! I don't think I will ever learn enough about it.

We've also been working on getting some "Personal Mission Plans" out to our ward members! It's a super awesome plan on how we can help the members share the gospel with their friends in a really simple way.

Don't be afraid to share the gospel! It is so easy! Just invite someone to do anything! Like...family home evening! Mutual! Share a scripture! I promise it will brighten their day...and yours!

I also learned how to catch whipped cream in my mouth. I'll send the video if I have time.

I LOVE YOU ALL SO MUCH. PLEASE KEEP WRITING ME LETTERS. And more than that, pray, read, go to church. You know the drill.

LOOOOOOOVE, Hermana Thomas
